I have been working on eliminating caffeine from my diet for 3 months now. I am not there yet. I just cannot seem to give up that first cup of the day. It is the sound of the coffee maker, the smell of the coffee brewing, the heft of my big cup, the warmth of the cup and the coffee when I take that first sip. The heat warming my hands as I hold the cup close to my lips. I have made strides – down from 4-6 cups a day to one cup weakened with hot water. But that first cup, I have come to understand that I really don’t want to give it up. So here I will stay, one watered down cup of warm coffee to start my day.

Coffee is a good thing!
I applaud you for trying…but sometimes it is the simple things that make us really happy.
I am with you Juliann,
I can’t drink decaf, ugh and I can’t get up my morning cup(s), but I try to watch more coffee during the day. I do drink diet Dr. Pepper as well. I should move to water more, but…
it’s the effort, right?
Bonnie
Well, I applaud you for *trying* to give up caffeine, but consider that coffee really is good for you, and the half-and-half stuff probably taste better than your watered-down coffee. ~Just a thought! 🙂
I have to have my coffee every morning. I have tried to switch to tea, but it didn’t work:-(
I can’t give up my morning coffee. I hate it when my coffee finishes, so I have begun to buy bigger mugs!
Coffee. Yep. Me, too, but only in the mornings, when the house is silent for a bit and I write, mug near my hand.

Oh the rhapsody of that first cup in the morning!
I gave up coffee and tea with caffeine in mid-August. It was a terrible thing to do, at first. However, I find myself getting a bit more sleep in order to counter my need for coffee first thing in the morning.
I love my coffee. I tried to quit, but it didn’t work.
Oh the joy of a good cup of joe! Everything in moderation… even excess. One cup sounds like a reasonable transition. Good luck!
Hi, the people here are right. Coffee is good for you. Moderation is the better thing to strive for.
Thanks for sharing your Slice of Life stories and activities. Good luck. You like memoir…maybe you’d like to check out our site, Women’s Memoirs.
Good luck with SOLSC
Coffee. Pen. Paper. Tools of morning writing! I’m cutting back at school, but NEVER in the morning. Sometimes while I go to sleep at night, I’m looking forward to my morning/coffee!
